Many Singaporean kids are afraid of Chinese language, not to mention Higher Chinese.
That will be a nightmare for them.
You can still survive well in Singapore even though you are not good in Chinese language but it is an advantage if you can master or good in Chinese language especially while you are working with China/Taiwan counterparts. I had the opportunities to have a close working relationship with Suzhou/Shanghai colleagues and even had a direct reporting boss stationed at Suzhou for 3 years. That was the time I truly appreciate why mastering in Chinese language is a good thing to have!

There is no short-cut in language learning.
You just need to speak more, listen more, write more, read more and perhaps more practices!
The good news is there are so many FREE resources (e.g. past year test papers) available on the Internet for you to learn/practise. I literally opened all the 95x test papers from the website below and completed the questions. Then I had shared these information in this blog. This is for my own record keeping too.
Students, you should do the same!
These are the words I would expect my son to know by the time he reaches Primary 4/5 in 2 years time.
Have fun learning Chinese language!
