About this homepage

This homepage documents all the challenging mathematics questions from various SA1, SA2 Mathematics test papers from the top schools in Singapore after my little boy had completed them. :)
 
The objective is simple. I want to record down only the good questions for his future references too. 
 
In the next few blogs, I am going to show "year 2018-Primary 3" and "year 2018-Primary 4" good mathematic test questions.
 
Do purchase the "Intensive Maths Drills" series below. They are very good books. Popular Bookstore sometimes had 20% discount  (S$7.90 only). 

  
I might extend this homepage to Science, Chinese or English subjects when time goes by. This blog shall be active for another 10 more years until he reaches A-level. This is one platform to share my teaching experience with him.

Primary 4 Mathematics: Modeling topic (14x questions from year 2018 SA1/SA2 papers)

Singapore MOE is very proud of their mathematics modeling , which I do not understand why. The modeling can be solved by algebra sometimes. I also heard many good primary school students in mathematics meet difficulties in secondary school as they could not understand the algebra logic. That is very dangerous. I think they probably did too many modeling questions in primary school until their brain cannot switch or comprehend the simple algebra. I teach both concepts to my boy. Don’t worry, it will not confuse them.  He is going to finish all 32x test papers of Primary 4 (left 3x more papers). I hand-picked 14x nice modeling questions from the year 2018 SA1/SA2 test questions that he had completed. He got about 70% right. These 14x questions are very good questions for Primary 4 students. If you can get them all correct, your standard is, surely and definitely in the range of 95%-100%. You probably wonder why I only show the modeling questions of Primary 4 but...

2024 PSLE result : AL 5 M + S$2,400 yearly scholarship (ESIS)

My boy met my expectation precisely.  AL 5 M  ! Surprisingly, he also received the scholarships letter together with the PSLE certificate.  It is a Edusave scholarships for Independant Schools (ESIS),  S$2,400 per year for 6 years .  This is a surprise bonus!  We were told only AL 4 and 5 students received such scholarships (Singaporean students only). With AL 5, you basically can choose any secondary schools you like. However, he had fixed his eyes at  ACS(I) . It's only 10 minutes journey, direct bus from our home. IP (Year 1 to Year 4) school fees: S$385 x 12 months x 4 =  S$18,480 IBDP (Year 5 to Year 6) school fees: S$500 x 12 months x 2 =  S$12,000 Total 6 years of school fees:  S$30,480 Scholarships (for 6 years): S$2,400 x 6 =  S$14,400 Net ACS(I) secondary school fees for 6 years:  S$16,080 My job is officially done.  Woo Hoo!!
